Bernard Klazmer
Founder

Bernie, the first member of his family to be born in the United States, was raised in Philadelphia and graduated from Central High School in 1950.  In 1954, he received his B.S. in Mathematics and Physics from West Chester University.  Soon after graduation, Bernie entered the insurance field as an agent for New York Life, founding Klazmer Financial Group that same year.  He was an immediate success.  Bernie earned his CLU and his Certification in Pension and Estate Planning from the American College of Life Underwriters in 1961.  Throughout his forty-five-year career, Bernie received numerous industry awards and was recognized as one of the leading insurnace professionals in the Philadelphia area.  In addition to his work with New York Life, Bernie established close relationships with a broad range of insurance providers, always making it his priority to introduce the right product offered by the best carrier to each individual client. It was this dedication that earned him both broad recognition and the loyalty of his many clients.

More important to him than his achievements and accolades, was having his sons, Gary and Brian, join him in the business.  Perhaps his proudest moment was in 1993 when the three Klazmers were celebrated as only the second familial trio in New York Life’s 155 years to reach Chairman’s Council, the highest measure of success, in the same year.  Beginning in 1999, Bernie split his time between Philadelphia and Longboat Key, Florida, where he enjoyed golf, tennis and bridge.  Bernie Klazmer passed away on January 16, 2006.
